On Tap This Week 01/15/17

Citra’s back on the menu at KRBC, Dionysus releases bottles of Super Funk, Local Craft Beer brings glassware to Eureka and more On Tap This Week.

Monday 1/16 – Steal the Pint in back at Bootleggers Craft Pub on Monday nights. They start pouring at 6 pm. No word yet on this week’s feature.

Wednesday 1/18 – The weekly Steal the Glass event over at Eureka Burger starts at 6 pm. This week features two beers from Local Craft Beer and their new logo glass. Expect to see Blue Oak Coffee Stout and The Mosaic Is Real DIPA on tap for this event.   

Wednesday 1/18 – Flights and Bites returns! This Wednesday marks the return of the always popular beer and food pairing event at Moo Creamery. The pairing starts at 2 pm and goes until 9 pm. They’ve got a bunch of new beers going on tap including a list of Track Seven Anniversary collaborations, some of which will be featured in Flights and Bites. Here are some of the beers going on this week:

Alvarado Street Brewery Naughty by Nectar Sour, Big Dog Brewing Owney’s IMS Imperial Milk Stout, Fieldwork Brewing Never the Bride Northeast-inspired DIPA, Modern Times Low Country Murk, Three Weavers Brewing Executioner’s Basket Imperial Red Ale with blood orange and Revision Brewing Company IPA.

Friday 12/20Imbibe Wine and Spirit’s is starting off 2017 with a Meet and Greet featuring Hangar 24 and multiple vintages of their Barrel Roll Pugachev’s Cobra! The event goes from 5 – 8 pm and features a logo glass to take home. Here’s the beer:

Saturday 12/21 – This Saturday is the Super Funkadelic Gose with Peaches and Apricots bottle release at Dionysus Brewing from 12 pm to 9 pm. The peaches and apricots version will be available to the public with a one bottle limit and regular Super Funkadelic bottles will also be available for purchase with a six bottle limit. Olympus Barrel Society members have first dibs on these bottles in the online store.

Mash Time – A Brewing Podcast – A local station for discussing home brewing and craft beer. Hosted by Stuart Hoetker and John Agee out of Bakersfield CA. Mash Time is now on iTunes! Episode 11 is another swap cast with the IPA Today guys recorded at local brewery Dionysus featuring Dio’s head brewer Kyle and a surprise visit from head brewer of Local Craft Beer, Tyson.

IPA Today Podcast – A local podcast critiquing beers and wasting time. Hosted by Kenny and Richie with frequent appearances by Uncle Frank and Joey. Most recent release: The above-mentioned swap cast with Mash Time.

Bakersfield Craft Beer Blogging

Short and Sweet (or Sour)

Kern River Brewing Company’s February Citra sale is coming up fast. The sale is for one case (twelve 22oz. bottles) and tickets for the sale are available now at Brown Paper Tickets. Tickets are sold corresponding to a pickup window. The three windows are Friday, February 3rd – Sunday, February 5th, Monday, February 6th – Thursday, February 9th and Friday, February 10th – Sunday, February 12th.

On tap now over at KRBC, Waka ‘Bout DIPA brewed with Wakatu hops from New Zealand and Think Tank #12 Experimental IPA brewed with El Dorado, Simcoe, and Cascade hops. Also, River Buddy Pale Ale is now available at the brewery and in stores in 22 oz. bottles.

Fresh off their trip to the Fresh Hop Festival in Yakima WA, Lengthwise Brewing is working on a 6.5% ABV White IPA featuring Denali hops which they were able to hand select from their distributor while visiting the evergreen state. In other Lengthwise news; expect to see six packs of 12 oz. bottles Citra Simcoe Centennial Ale and Zeus Imperial Ale in stores in February.

Brewery Tours are in full swing over at Temblor Brewing on Saturday’s from 1 – 3 pm. Tours are free, check Facebook or Eventbrite to reserve your spot. Also at Temblor, every third Tuesday they will be hosting home brewer’s meetings at the brewery starting this Tuesday 1/17. Go to meet other home brewers and discuss the hobby. On tap now over at Temblor is Diamond Dogs Barley Wine an aggressively hopped, super malty winter brew.

Save Mart has fresh Tioga Sequoia Rush Hour Breakfast Stout and Cake Rush Imperial Stout. Also, Modern Times Black House Nitro with Coconut and Cocoa and Founders Brewing Imperial Stout.

New six packs of New Belgium are available at Oak Market & Liquor. Look for Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA, Whizbang Hoppy Blond Ale, Citradelic IPA and Tartastic Wild Ale. Also, Barrel House Brewing Night Ryder IPA.

Alpine Beer Company Nelson IPA is on tap over at Imbibe Wine and Spirits. Also available at Imbibe: Deschutes The Abyss Imperial Stout, The Abyss Scotch Barrel Imperial Stout, The Abyss Brandy Barrel Imperial Stout and The Dissident Flanders. There are plenty other new beers on the shelf at Imbibe to check out.

GM Liquor has fresh six-packs of Sierra Nevada Beer Camp Golden IPA, Rogue Hazelutely Choctabulous Ale, Modern Times Orderville IPA, Deschutes The Abyss Imperial Stout and plenty more.
