Monday 1/23 – Steal the Pint is back at Bootleggers Craft Pub on Monday nights. They start pouring at 6 pm. No word yet on this week’s featured beer. Keep an eye on their social media Monday for more info.
Wednesday 1/25 – The weekly Steal the Glass event over at Eureka Burger starts at 6 pm. This week features three versions of Victory at Sea Imperial Porter from Ballast Point. Expect to see the original, coconut and peanut butter versions on tap for this event.
Wednesday 1/25 – UPDATE! This Wednesday’s Flights and Bites at Moo Creamery features the beers of renowned east coast brewery, Dogfish Head. The pairing starts at 4 pm and goes until 9 pm. Here’s this week’s line up

Friday 1/27 – Belching Beaver returns to Bakersfield in style with a re-release party at Imbibe Wine and Spirit’s. Expect to see their rep, Carley and one of the brewers on hand to talk about what the Beaver is bringing back to town. The event goes from 5 – 8 pm and Logo glassware will be available while supplies last with featured beers: Peanut Butter Milk Stout, Ol’ Dirty Barrel Russian Imperial Stout, Hibiscus Sour Witbier, Viva La Beaver Mexican Chocolate Milk Stout and more.

Mash Time – A Brewing Podcast – A local station for discussing home brewing and craft beer. Hosted by Stuart Hoetker and John Agee out of Bakersfield CA. Episode 12 features local home brewer and beer podcast celebrity, Uncle Frank and the return of co-host John while Stu brews a Saison.
IPA Today Podcast – A local podcast critiquing beers and wasting time. Hosted by Kenny and Richie with frequent appearances by Uncle Frank and Joey. In Episode 26 Kenny and Richie join Uncle Frank for a special brew day where Frank brews the official IPA Today IPA and I assert my status as a regular guest. Also, Stuart from Mash Time stops by to encourage a somewhat serious brewing discussion.

Short and Sweet (or Sour)
Belching Beaver returns to Bakersfield distribution! Thanks to local distributor W.A. Thompson we should see bottles, cans, and tap handles back in town this week. It all starts with the re-launch party on Friday the 27th at Imbibe Wine and Spirit’s mentioned above. They will also be doing a steal the glass event at Eureka Burger on the 1st and will have a presence at the Country and Craft Beer Festival on April 1st. Some of the packaged beers we can expect to see are Beavers Milk Milk Stout, Hop Highway IPA, Mango IPA, Viva La Beaver Mexican Chocolate Milk Stout, Peanut Butter Milk Stout in 22 oz. bottles and six packs, Damned DIPA, Ol’ Dirty Barrel Russian Imperial Stout, and Me So Honey Pale Wheat Ale in cans. There will be plenty of Beaver beers on tap around town as well. Most of the above beers have been confirmed with some showing up on Nitro. Expect to see some specialty brews released to the local market as well, including Barrel Aged Damned, Beaver Buzz on Nitro, a mixed fermentation Saison, Strawberry Braggot and more.
The Original Pub up at Kern River Brewing Company recently went through some minor renovations and is now back to normal hours. There are still a few tickets available for the February Citra releases at Brown Paper Tickets. Tickets are sold corresponding to a pickup window. The three windows are Friday, February 3rd – Sunday, February 5th, Monday, February 6th – Thursday, February 9th, and Friday, February 10th – Sunday, February 12th. Fresh packaged beers from KRBC currently in stores are Class V Stout 22oz. bottles and kegs, Isabella Blonde 22 oz. bottles and kegs, and Just Outstanding IPA 12oz. cans and kegs.
If you’ll be in the San Diego area next month you may want to check out the 8th annual Brewbies on the 11th in Oceanside. KRBC will be at the event and the festival benefits the Keep A Breast Foundation. Get your tickets at Eventbrite.com.
Lengthwise Brewing recently tapped their newest brew called West Coast Brown Ale. It’s currently available at all three locations.

One Hit Wonder on tap now over at Temblor Brewing is Segue IPA, an experimental IPA with American Malts, 682 and Amarillo hops. This won’t be available for long. Other beers you may want to get your hands on before they are gone are: House of Pain IPA, Mas y Mas Pilsner, Beggars Banquet Robust Porter and ONE Anniversary Belgian IPA. Expect to see their newest brew Spirit Walker Russian Imperial Stout in a couple weeks.
As we saw this weekend, Dionysus Brewing is upping its bottled beer offerings to the public. This weekend was Super Funkadelic Gose with peaches and apricots and on February 11th there will be another release for the public. Berlinersfield Berliner Weisse with passion fruit will be released in 750ml bottles with limited quantities available. Both this beer and the regular version of Super Funkadelic will see limited distribution around town as well. For Olympus Barrel Society Members, February 25th will be the first bottle release of the 2017 membership. Rosé Sauvage (batch 2) Golden Sour aged in French Oak Rosé Barrels will be available for members to pick up and on tap for the public. If you’re heading to San Francisco Beer Week (Feb. 10 – 19) make sure you check out the Save the Whales Beer Festival hosted by Almanac Brewing. Dionysus will be there representing.
Imbibe Wine and Spirit’s just tapped Oskar Blues Ten Fiddy Imperial Stout 2015.
Barrel House Brewing in Paso Robles is hosting its 4th Anniversary party on February 25th. Tickets will be available February 1st. Check out their Facebook page for more info.
