All Week Long – This week Eureka Burger turns five! Stop by to celebrate the five year anniversary of this great venue with an always interesting, constantly evolving tap list and amazing food. Each day they will be tapping two new kegs. Here’s what we can expect:

Tuesday 4/18Craft Tap House is hosting a Steal the Glass event on Tuesday featuring Maui Brewing Company. The lineup will include Pineapple Mana Wheat, Coconut Hiwa Porter, Bikini Blonde Lager and Double Overhead DIPA. The event goes from 5 – 10 pm. There will also be to-go cans for purchase and free swag.

Tuesday 4/18 – The monthly home brewer’s meeting is this Tuesday at Temblor Brewing Company. Local homebrewers are encouraged to come discuss home brewing and bring a bottle of their own creation to share. The meeting is from 6 – 8 PM. Tracy Burns-Lusich is running this week’s discussion topic on brewing water chemistry.     

Wednesday 4/19 – Wednesday is Flights and Bites night at Moo Creamery. The pairing starts at 4 pm and goes until 9 pm. Watch for the beers to be announced on social media this week.  

Saturday 4/22 – On Saturday Dionysus Brewing is having a public bottle release. Berlinersfield with Boysenberries will be available in bottles (limited) to the public and on tap (no growler fills). This event goes from 12 pm to 9 pm.

Saturday 4/22 – The Macaroni and Cheese Festival comes to the CSUB Amphitheater this Saturday. Tickets are $50 and include: 20+ breweries and wineries pouring, a logo glass to take home and gourmet Mac and Cheese samples. The event goes from 2 – 6 pm and you can get your tickets on Eventbrite.    

Drink Like a Local

Catching up with our local breweries.

Rhapsody is Red by Temblor Brewing is being packaged in 22 oz. bottles and will be available at the brewery and distribution soon. On Cinco de Mayo, Temblor will be pouring Mas y Mas and El Cerrito aged in tequila barrels. Temblor will be at the Visalia Craft Beer Festival on the 29th.  

 

Kern River Brewing just bottled Isabella Blond on 4/10. Think Tank #13 with Waimea, Pacific Jade and Amarillo hops was kegged on 4/13. It’s on tap at the brewery now and will go out for distribution this week. On Friday the 14th, brewer Shaun Morgan was joined by Tony and Noah from Tony’s Darts Away for an IPA collaboration brewed on the pub system.   

Local Craft Beer Tehachapi has batch two of Gose the Blueberrian on at the brewery. The Simcoe is Real, a dank west coast style IPA is releasing at the brewery this Wednesday. Currently in the fermenter are Tiny Hands Session IPA and The Wall Mexican IPL. The Juice is Real will be bottled May 10th for distribution.

Podcasts are the future of entertainment (said someone in 2004).

Mash Time – A Brewing Podcast – A local station for discussing home brewing and craft beer, hosted by Stuart Hoetker and John Agee out of Bakersfield CA. Episode 17 was recorded at the Country and Craft Beer Festival with lots guests from the local community.

IPA Today Podcast – A local podcast critiquing beers and wasting time. Hosted by Kenny and Richie with frequent appearances by Uncle Frank and Joey. Episode 36 is the highly anticipated Mexicast. Expect lots of laughs and Mexican jokes and stereotypes with guests Frank, Joey, and Robert.

Festivals

Drink all the beers, four ounces at a time.

On the 29th of this month head to the Visalia Craft Beer Festival at Mooney Grove Park. The event goes from 1 – 5 pm and your admission includes beer samples. Food will be available for purchase. Get your tickets here.  

The BBQ & Beer Festival is May 5 – 7 at Central Park in Santa Clarita CA. Friday is the beer festival portion of the event although beer will be available all three days. Check out over 50 craft beers and some great BBQ. Get your tickets here.  

The 5th Annual Bakersfield Craft Beer Festival will be held on Saturday, May 13th from 1 pm – 5 pm (VIP get in at 12 pm) this year at the CSUB Amphitheater. Tickets are available online, at Imbibe Wine and Spirits, Temblor Brewing, Dionysus Brewing, and all three Lengthwise locations. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram for a chance to win tickets to this year’s event.

The Fresno/Madera Craft Beer Festival is on May 13th from 1 - 6 pm at ApCal in Madera, CA. The event features over 40 breweries, food by Smoke Joint BBQ and Mediterranean Grill and live music.  

The 2017 Central Valley Brewfest in Turlock, CA at the Stanislaus fairgrounds is on May 13th. This is the 5th year of this event and promises to have over 150 brews to sample as well as live music. The event goes from 12 – 5 pm. Tickets are available at Eventbrite.

The Pizza and Craft Beer Fest at Craft Tap House is scheduled for May 21st. From 1 – 5 pm local pizza vendors will be selling slices, there will also be a pizza competition and 50 beers on tap for purchase. General admission tickets are $10 and VIP is $50. The VIP tickets come with early entry at 12 pm, a VIP shaded area with seating, a $10 drink card and pizza sampling. Tickets are available at Craft Tap House, Impact Streetwear, and True Standard Barbershop.

This year’s Tehachapi Mountain Beer and Wine Fest is scheduled for July 15th from 4 pm – 8 pm at Benz Visco Sports Park. Get your tickets for this event online and be sure to enter promo code “Local” for discounted general admission tickets or “VeryVIP” for discounted VIP tickets.
