Monday 4/24 – Brews for Barks is a fundraiser for local animal shelters via the Friends of Kern County Animal Shelters held at Temblor Brewing Company. The event goes from 6 – 9 pm. Your $30 ticket gets you a flight of beer and access to a taco bar. There will be a door prize and an opportunity drawing with the proceeds from this event going to help local animals in need. Tuesday 4/25 – Centro 18 is hosting a craft beer and taco tasting on Tuesday. The event features beers from Lengthwise Brewing and C18’s gourmet tacos. Admission is $25 and the event goes from 6 – 8 pm. Get your tickets here.

Wednesday 4/26 – The weekly Steal the Glass at Eureka Burger starts at 6 pm. This week features two beers by Founders Brewing Company and a pretty cool looking piece of glassware. Get some of that KBS everyone is talking about or go with the sessionable All Day IPA.

Lengthwise Brewing just released a strawberry version of their White IPA. The Strawberry White IPA, weighing in at 6.5%, was dry hopped with Galaxy and Denali hops and fermented with 250 lbs. of pureed strawberries! It’s on tap now at all three locations. Coming in the next couple weeks are four-bottle packs of 12 oz. Rye IPA, White IPA, and Coffee Stout. Also in a couple weeks, Zeus will get the fruit treatment. Grapefruit Zeus Imperial IPA will be the standard Zeus recipe with 250 lbs. of grapefruit puree introduced during fermentation.
River of Deceit Black Rye IPA, Lefty’s Revenge DIPA, and Diamond Dogs Barleywine are on their last legs at Temblor Brewing so go get some soon before they are gone. This weekend they release One Hit Wonder Weeee!!! Scottish Wee Heavy and on deck after that is owner Don Bynum’s Belgian IPA. Get your tickets to the Bakersfield Craft Beer Festival on May 13th at Temblor and get 10% off your food order.
Local Craft Beer Tehachapi has The Simcoe is Real, a dank west coast style IPA in distribution now. Kegging this week are Tiny Hands Session IPA and The Wall Mexican IPL. The Juice is Real will be bottled May 10th for distribution.

Mash Time – A Brewing Podcast – A local station for discussing home brewing and craft beer, hosted by Stuart Hoetker and John Agee out of Bakersfield CA. Episode 17 was recorded at the Country and Craft Beer Festival with lots guests from the local community.
IPA Today Podcast – A local podcast critiquing beers and wasting time. Hosted by Kenny and Richie with frequent appearances by Uncle Frank and Joey. Episode 37 is part two of the highly anticipated Mexicast. Expect lots of laughs and Mexican jokes and stereotypes with guests Frank, Joey, and Robert.

On the 29th of this month head to the Visalia Craft Beer Festival at Mooney Grove Park. The event goes from 1 – 5 pm and your admission includes beer samples. Food will be available for purchase. Get your tickets here.
The BBQ & Beer Festival is May 5 – 7 at Central Park in Santa Clarita CA. Friday is the beer festival portion of the event although beer will be available all three days. Check out over 50 craft beers and some great BBQ. Get your tickets here.
The 5th Annual Bakersfield Craft Beer Festival will be held on Saturday, May 13th from 1 pm – 5 pm (VIP get in at 12 pm) this year at the CSUB Amphitheater. Tickets are available online, at Imbibe Wine and Spirits, Temblor Brewing, Dionysus Brewing, and all three Lengthwise locations. Follow them on Facebook and Instagram for a chance to win tickets to this year’s event.
The 2017 Central Valley Brewfest in Turlock, CA at the Stanislaus fairgrounds is on May 13th. This is the 5th year of this event and promises to have over 150 brews to sample as well as live music. The event goes from 12 – 5 pm. Tickets are available at Eventbrite.
Surf n’ Suds Beer Festival on the beach in Ventura is Saturday, May 20th from 11:30 am – 5 pm. The event features over 50 breweries, live music, vendors, outdoor games, and a bunch of food trucks. Benefiting The Young and Brave Foundation the event is rated top 10 by beeryeti.com and will sell out. Get your tickets here.
The Pizza and Craft Beer Fest at Craft Tap House is scheduled for May 21st. From 1 – 5 pm local pizza vendors will be selling slices, there will also be a pizza competition and 50 beers on tap for purchase. General admission tickets are $10 and VIP is $50. The VIP tickets come with early entry at 12 pm, a VIP shaded area with seating, a $10 drink card and pizza sampling. Tickets are available at Craft Tap House, Impact Streetwear, and True Standard Barbershop.
This year’s Tehachapi Mountain Beer and Wine Fest is scheduled for July 15th from 4 pm – 8 pm at Benz Visco Sports Park. Get your tickets for this event online and be sure to enter promo code “Local” for discounted general admission tickets or “VeryVIP” for discounted VIP tickets.

Muertos Kitchen & Lounge currently has Shmaltz Brewing Funky Jewbelation Sour and Santa Maria Brewing Julicious NE IPA. They also have amazing food.
Imbibe Wine and Spirits is introducing a new event series in their cellar called the Central Valley Hop Shootout on July 20th. The competition calls on Central Valley (and the surrounding mountains) breweries to bring one hop driven beer for consideration. The winner gets a trophy and their name on a prominently displayed plaque in the tasting bar. Attendees will taste and vote for the best. Tickets are available at Imbibe for $45 (20% off for beer of the month club members). Confirmed breweries so far are Kern River Brewing, Local Craft Beer Tehachapi, Temblor Brewing, Dionysus Brewing, Full Circle Brewing, and Tioga-Sequoia Brewing. Keep an eye out for more announcements regarding this event as we get closer.
