Happy Anniversary KRBC! Kern River Brewing Company turns 11 this year and they held their official celebration today at the brewery. Citra DIPA made an appearance on draft only, their 11th Anniversary beer, Eddy Flower Triple IPA went on tap, and a super limited supply of their collaboration with Mason Ale Works and Eagle Rock Brewery called Gutterball Trio IPA went on this weekend as well. Also, fresh Long Swim DIPA went on tap Saturday, the new Paddle Left Hefe German Wiess Bier (5.5% ABV) went on tap today and fresh River Buddy Pale Ale is expected on Tuesday. Fresh bottles of Long Swim and River Buddy should start showing up this week too.
This Thursday Temblor Brewing Company is releasing two new beers. Katy Lied Hefeweizen and Naive Melody Blueberry Hefeweizen will be featured at their Mug Club Members and Brick Founders release party where members get a free pour and appetizers from 5:30 – 7:30. The beers will be available for purchase on draft all day. On tap now at the brewery is On Hit Wonder: Revival Maibock.
The Hype is Real is on shelves in 22oz. format from Local Craft Beer Tehachapi. Next week expect The Cashmere is Real on draft (should be on at Eureka Burger in town). Fermenting now is The 10 Haze Commandments, expected around 6/20 and Snobs Gold IPA with El Dorado hops. Next up from LCB is a new beer brewed “milkshake” style; a hazy, juicy NE DIPA with vanilla and passion fruit. Help Tyson name this beer, here are a couple of ideas so far: “The Juiceshake is Real”, “My Juicshake Brings all the Boys to the Yard”, “Juice Lee”, and “The Passion of the Haze”. Hit him up on social media with your choice. Also, LCB now has Crowlers!
Lengthwise Brewing Company has Rye IPA, White IPA and Coffee Stout available in 4 packs of 12oz. bottles. A fresh batch of Hiccup Pale Ale, loaded with Idaho 7 hops is expected to go on tap next week. In fermentation is a Tart Cherry White IPA and coming soon is Grapefruit Zeus. Happy Birthday to Co-owner, Jeff Williams who recently hit a milestone birthday… (Thanks for the heads up Darin!)
Saturday saw the release of Lil Miss Passionfruit bottles for Olympus Society Members at Dionysus Brewing Company. With luck, there will still be some on tap at the brewery this week for those that missed it. Available in 22oz. format at the brewery and at Imbibe Wine and Spirits is Berlinersfield with Black Raspberries. Coming later this month we can expect Lil Miss Strawberry public bottle release and Berlinersfield with Guava public bottle release. From co-owner/brewer, Kyle Pittser on this Berlinersfield version: “…this time it’s an IMPERIAL Berliner Weisse. Our efficiency was through the roof for this batch so it fermented to 5.7% which is high for a Berliner.” Also, Dionysus now has Crowlers!
For Your Ears
Podcasts are the future of entertainment (said someone in 2004).
Mash Time – A Brewing Podcast – A local station for discussing home brewing and craft beer, hosted by Stuart Hoetker and John Agee out of Bakersfield CA. Episode 19 has Uncle Frank and myself co-hosting in John’s absence with guests Geoff and Sean experiencing extract homebrewing for the first time with a Mango Saison.
IPA Today Podcast – A local podcast critiquing beers and wasting time. Hosted by Kenny and Richie with frequent appearances by Uncle Frank and Joey. Episode 43 is up. Oh, Canada! This episode is devoted to our neighbors to the north and what Americans think they drink.

Bakersfield Beer Company is gearing up to open to the public soon! As of now, they are looking at early July. I will be writing a feature in a future blog post detailing what we can expect from this new bottle shop and tap room. Follow them on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter for updates. For now, here are some photos I borrowed from their Facebook page.
I haven’t ventured into too may downtown bars lately so I’m a little behind on their offerings. We all know that Sandrini’s Public House has a great tap list and bottle offerings but another downtown staple that has a surprisingly good tap list is Riley’s Tavern with 32 taps and some rotating handles, they do flights, pints, bottles and are a verified Untappd venue so go check them out and support this established bar.

How to Read My Blog
There’s only one way.
Some of you may know by now that I “usually” post to my blog (what you just finished reading) on Sunday afternoon/evening and link it to my social media accounts. That post may include: what events are going on around town the following week (steal the glass, tap takeover, bottle releases, etc.), local brewery updates, local podcast and blog updates, upcoming festivals, some of the packaged beers available around town and other general local and occasional national/regional beer stuff (depending on how long I can devote to researching and writing). I also usually post on social media on the day of each event as a reminder. I’ve started to include a cost identifier at the end of each event post. Here’s how to read that: $25 = cost of the event, $PINT or $POUR = cost of a pint or pour for steal the glass or similar event, $50/$100 = cost of the event with different ticket options. This is how it works for now. Expect change though, it’s inevitable… Thanks for reading.
I’m sure there is plenty more to talk about that I missed. Send me a message if you have something that needs to be included next week or have a beer related event you want to promote.
