Friday 11/25 – Put Imbibe Wine and Spirits on your Black Friday shopping list. They are opening up at 10AM for the annual release of Goose Island’s Bourbon County Brand Stout. Along with this year’s version they will also have a limited supply of a couple past vintages and some other cool super limited bottles. Everything is a one bottle per person limit. Here’s the line-up so far:

Yesterday I had the pleasure of being a guest on IPA Today for episode 17 which should be released on Monday. We sampled beers, talked about the Bacon and Craft Beer Festival, had some beers, discussed local events and news, tasted beers, heard about Uncle Frank’s brew day with Tyson of Local Craft Beer and sampled beers. Then Joey came over and we sampled some beers.
Short and Sweet (or Sour)
Kern River Brewing Company is wrapping up the final weekend of the Citra bottle pick up (for those that purchased online) and they have some great stuff on tap up at the brewery. Of course there is Citra DIPA; also on tap is Nick Rivers IPA (collaboration brew with Nickel Brewing), River Buddy Pale Ale, Think Tank #11 and Lost in the Wood Barley Wine.
On tap at Temblor Brewing is: Temblorfest Marzen, Beggar’s Banquet Robust Porter, Bourbon Barrel Aged Beggar’s Banquet Robust Porter and the last of their Quad IPA from the One Hit Wonders program. Also available now at the brewery is Bourbon Barrel Aged Beggar’s Banquet Robust Porter in numbered bottles. There is a 3 bottle limit on those.
Yesterday Dionysus Brewing released bottles of Currantly Noir with Vanilla Beans for Olympus Society members. They had it on tap for the public and it’s still available today. Also on tap now is Currantly Noir batch #01, Double Dank, a new variant of Berlinersfield Berliner Weisse aged with raspberries, blackberries and black currants.
Local Craft Beer recently tapped Sofa King Hoppy TIPA and Settle Down Nelson Session IPA. Coming soon to the brewery are a simcoe pale ale, a southern cross DIPA and the return of Hop Drizzle. December 10th is the LCB one year anniversary party so save the date. I’ll post more details on that event in the coming weeks.
Tiki-Ko, Bakersfield’s best Tiki bar, is moving to a local focus with their premium bottle beers. Currently available is Lengthwise Zeus, Citra Simcoe and Centennial. From Dionysus they have Superfunkadelic and from Tioga Sequoia, Sugar Pine Porter.
Eureka Burger recently tapped Modern Times City of the Dead Vanilla Stout on Nitro.
Firestone Walker Luponic Distortion Rev. 004 is starting to show up around town and Wine Me Up! just added it to their tap list. Also available at Wine Me Up! is Barrel House Heidbanger Red Rye Scotch Ale in bottles.
In other Firestone Walker News: they are releasing Pacific Gravity Barrel Aged Weizenbock a collaboration beer they did with Pacific Gravity Home Brew Club on Black Friday at all of their locations.
Imbibe Wine and Spirits has Kern River Brewing Company Citra DIPA on tap. This certainly won’t last long. It was on over at Johnny Garlic’s but that keg blew rather quickly. Imbibe has a couple of events coming up: on the 2nd they have Randall night with Local Craft Beer and on the 9th it’s a head to head tasting featuring Alpine Brewing and Green Flash Brewing. I’ll post more on these events soon.
The new tap system at Moo Creamery is finally set for install on Tuesday. It has changed slightly due to a lack of room in the wall that it will share with plumbing and electrical for the walk-in. The new total taps will be 12. They currently have Almanac Farmer’s Reserve Blueberry, Firestone Walker Helldorado and 2015 Modern Times Monster’s Park on tap. Next week they will be tapping their keg of KRBC Citra.
A few local beers are on tap over at Craft Tap House. Kern River Brewing Class V Stout and Isabella Blond, Dionysus Brewing Cocoa Milk Stout and Temblor Brewing Hollow Body Pale Ale. You can always see an up to date tap list for Craft Tap House by downloading the Tap Hunter app on your smart phone. Other local restaurants that are on Tap Hunter are Flame Burger in the North West and TK Pizza & Pasta in Tehachapi. Craft Tap House is hosting a tap takeover featuring Alpine Brewing and Green Flash Brewing on the 7th. More details on that event coming soon.
Bootleggers Craft Pub & Eatery has New Belgium Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ale and Paraiso Brewing (out of Los Banos) Strawberry Hefeweizen.
Save Mart has a bunch of Deschutes beer on the shelf; Fresh Squeezed IPA, Sagefight Imperial IPA and Jubelale Winter Ale are all available in six packs. Also, limited bottles of 2015 Abyss, Black Butte XXVIII and Collage 2. Other goods over at Save Mart are fresh six packs of Alpine Pure Hoppiness, Firestone Walker Luponic Distortion Rev. 004 and Anniversary XX (limit 1 per customer) and Anchor Brewing 2016 Christmas Ale in magnums and in 12 oz. bottles in multiple vintages which you can mix and match in six packs.
