Last Sunday I broke the news on ontapbakersfield.com (publicly anyway) that Kyle Smith had moved from KRBC to Lengthwise. Now the big dogs are getting in on the story with more details. Thefullpint.com released an article on Friday with quotes from Eric and Rebecca Giddens, owners of KRBC announcing that Adrian Barrera has been promoted to head brewer. The Bakersfield Californian’s James Burger, a local craft beer head and professional journalist did a great article for today’s paper that gets a little perspective from Kyle and the lengthwise end of the move.
Craft Tap House has unveiled a Mug Club. The membership is for one year and includes some great membership benefits such as a member t-shirt, a VIP mug and discounts on food, merchandise and of course beer. Go here for all the details.
Pipeline Craft Beverage Company has added a few new California breweries to its portfolio recently. You’ve probably seen Santa Maria Brewing Company around as it was one of the featured beers the week before last in Moo Creamery’s Flights and Bites and was involved in a tap takeover at Steak and Grape as well. Also showing up locally are 32 North Brewing Company out of San Diego, Aftershock Brewing Company and Wiens Brewing Company both out of Temecula.
This year at the Kern County Fair on Friday September 23rd and Friday September 30th from 6 – 10pm, there will be a Craft Beer Garden featuring 12 breweries and 24 beers served in 4 oz. sample pours or pints.

You can enter in person at the fairs main office on P street or online. If using the online method, when prompted to "choose a department", select "all departments". On this week’s episode of Mash Time – A Brewer’s Podcast, hosts Stuart Hoetker and John Agee are having yours truly on as a guest to talk about what’s going on in the local craft beer scene. The episode should be posted on Monday or Tuesday. Like Mash Time on Facebook to add them to your feed.
I’m sure there is plenty more to talk about that I missed. Comment below or send me a message if you have something that needs to be included next week or have a beer related event you want to promote.
