So last week I was on Mash Time – A Brewer’s Podcast with Stuart Hoetker and John Agee and it was a profound, eloquently spoken, delightfully entertaining work of podcast art. Unfortunately, no one got to hear it due to some audio issues (I was speaking into the wrong end of the mic). Today we recorded take two of Episode 5 and if I do say so myself, it’s another masterpiece. The episode should be posted tonight. Like Mash Time on Facebook and Twitter to find the link.
According to a post on Beer Advocate, Eric Giddens of Kern River Brewing Company confirmed that the next Citra release is scheduled for November 11 – 20 and they are hoping to avoid a lottery. Thanks to Steve Belmont for the heads up on this post via the Bakersfield Craft Beer Facebook page.
Craft Tap House is getting Oktoberfest started with three special beers on tap now: Ballast Point Dead Ringer Oktoberfest Lager, Firestone Walker Oaktoberfest and Sam Adams Oktoberfest.
Fall was here for a day or two last week and that means it’s time for some pumpkin beers. GM Liquor on 24th Street has a handful of them on the shelves already. Here’s a few of them: Buffalo Bill’s Brewery America’s Original Pumpkin Ale, Almanac Pumpkin Pie de Brettaville, Shipyard Brewing Company Smashed Pumpkin, Anderson Valley Fall Hornin’ Pumpkin Ale and Uinta Brewing Punk’n Pumpkin Ale.
Firestone Walker’s Parabajava Imperial Coffee Stout 2016 is being released this Saturday 9/24 at these locations: The Brewery Emporium in Paso Robles at 10AM, Barrelworks in Buellton at 11AM and The Brewery Store in Venice at 12PM. It’s a four bottle max purchase per person. More details are available on their Facebook page.
Tickets go on sale for Firestone Walker’s XX anniversary party on Wednesday September 21st at 10AM. The party is on Saturday October 29th from 11 – 2:30PM. Your ticket is actually the purchase of 3 or 6 bottles of this year’s Anniversary Ale. Go here to get your tickets and more information.
One last Firestone Walker event, on the off chance you have lots of money to spend on beer events and are lucky enough to score a ticket; Thursday October 27th is The Last Supper, a food and beer pairing event that is extremely exclusive. The beers will be last of their kind, aged and super rare. Announced so far are 10th Anniversary Ale, Rufus and PNC. Adam Firestone, David Walker and brewmaster Matt Brynildson will be there discussing the beers and their barrel aging program. The tickets go on sale for this event on September 20th at 10AM. Go here for tickets and information.
Temblor Brewing Company has bottles of their ONE Anniversary Belgian IPA available at the brewery for purchase. This beer was originally released for their one year anniversary party and is a great example of a Belgian IPA.
Temblorfest is Temblor’s new Marzen on tap now, just in time for the start of Oktoberfest.
Oktobefest is in full swing at Imbibe Wine and Spirits. Expect to see a bunch of events featuring traditional German beers over the next couple of weeks. On tap now at Imbibe: Konig Ludwig Weissbier Dunkel (served in a half liter mug you get to take home while supplies last), Paulaner Brauerei Oktoberfest Marzen and Ayinger Oktoberfest Marzen (#3 on Ratebeer’s top Marzen List). Rate beer’s #1 is available in bottles; Heater Allen Bobtoberfest.
Also available at Imbibe in bottles; Firstone Walker Lil Opal Barrel Aged Saison, Modern Times Trueland Pale Ale and Brouwerij West Brilliant but Lazy Petite Saison.
I’m sure there is plenty more to talk about that I missed. Comment below or send me a message if you have something that needs to be included next week or have a beer related event you want to promote.
